The Benefits of Braces and Invisalign: Which one’s the best

The best thing about Braces and Invisalign is that they do more than just level your crooked or misaligned teeth. Braces/Invisalign can be used for correcting bite issues, which often requires special diagnosis and treatment. Dental treatments that use Braces/Invisalign are just one of the many procedures used by professionals to straighten out the teeth of their patients. It can help in giving the teeth an ideal position while promoting proper functioning and improving their overall appearance.

When we talk about Invisalign, it uses a set of plastic trays for achieving the position. Traditional metal braces, on the other hand, utilize metal wires for getting the ideal position or movement for the teeth.

In this post, we will be discussing the benefits of both braces and Invisalign and determine which one’s better.

Let’s jump right in.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign is best used for treating teeth alignments that are not too complicated. It requires wearing a set of clear, plastic trays 24 hours a day, requiring change-outs once in every two weeks. These computer-generated plastic trays can last for up to a year. However, Invisalign requires some form of retention for preventing the teeth from shifting back.

One of the primary reasons why it is preferred the most nowadays is because it is completely invisible. If you don’t want people to know you are wearing one of those teeth aligners, you would want to go with Invisalign. This is ideal for individuals who want to straighten their teeth without feeling uncomfortable in social situations.

The best part, wearing Invisalign doesn’t affect the way you speak and is comfortable.

However, experts say that Invisalign works more efficiently for aesthetic purposes rather than improving the functionality of the teeth. Therefore, people with more complex dental problems are recommended to go with traditional metal braces.

What are the benefits of braces?

With dental braces, braces are fixed on the front surface of the teeth that tend to run along a metal wire. The brackets and wires form part of the braces, pressing against the patient’s teeth. This pressure helps in straightening and properly aligning the teeth. The brackets affixed onto the teeth helps with providing movement to the teeth. In some cases, the dentist may remove two or more of your teeth to make enough space for proper alignment.

Even if it is the most complicated issues in aligning the teeth, dental braces can correct them with ease. Depending on the complexity, it can take around a year or two to completely fix the misalignment issue. During this time, you will have to make monthly visits to the dentist for checkup and service of the brackets and wire.

Which one should I choose?

After a thorough diagnosis, your dentist will be able to recommend the ideal teeth alignment treatment. If it is not that complex, and there are only a few small gaps between your teeth, an Invisalign will be recommended. However, if your teeth alignment structure is too complicated, dental braces are the best.
